26th-28th,
2009 -
Report by
Erik Anderson
I took the opportunity to
head up after the Memorial
Weekend and
avoid the rush. I stopped
at Knife River and Two Harbors
on Tuesday, May 26th. I
found blooming
service berry / juneberry
trees,
wood anemone,
marsh marigolds, and
bluebells.
Later in the day in Grand
Marais / Colvill, I found
wood anemone,
bloodroot,
trillium,
Dutchman's breeches, yellow
violet,
forget-me-nots, and buds of
wild clematis.
On Wednesday, along the
Arrowhead Trail, Lake McFarland,
Little John Lake, and Entry
Point 69, I saw
wood anemone,
strawberry,
raspberry,
service berry,
and
marsh marigolds. (Lorraine
Anderson's report from May 27th)
Thursday, May 28th, I stopped
at Gooseberry Falls and found
bunchberries,
white trout lily,
service berry,
trillium,
strawberry,
wood anemone, and
sarsaparilla.
