Well today was a day if you
didn’t like the weather – just
wait 10 minutes. We first went
to Pincushion Mountain so B
could see the Douglas Hawthorn.
We had looked all over and it
took a friend to let us know
where it was – right in an
obvious spot but it sure didn’t
seem like the same spot from
several years ago.
We then went to the
Superior Hiking Trail S & W
of the Old Ski Hill Road.
As we drove towards the parking
area we were pleased to see so
many
Nodding Trillium, Baneberry
and even blooming
Clintonia.
As we were walking on the
trail we were surprised at first
that the
Spring Beauty were still
blooming. Also as we were
walking – the boardwalk was
surrounded with
Marsh Marigolds. The
Goldthread were at peak,
Mertensia were in bloom and
even some
Wild Sarsaparilla beginning
to bloom.
Along the highway the Winter
Cress (mustard),
Juneberries, Pin Cherries
and Red-berried Elder were
blooming.
We tried again to get to the
Lima Bog but from the south – it
said “Wash-out 1 mile”
Too bad we can’t appreciate
them – but the
Dandelions are more prolific
and longer lasting than anything
else !!!
Lunch at the table near
Trestle Pine – we were joined by
the black flies – they make B
miserable!!
