Often we choose to go where we can expect to see something that we had seen before on that date and enjoyed. This time we went up the Arrowhead Trail and turned on the South Fowl Road. The rather new thing we saw were Round-lobed Hepatica leaves. They are very infrequent in this county.

The wild fruit trees (and also the non-wild) seem to be lasting longer and more beautiful than usual.

The new flowers we enjoyed most were: Roses, Clintonia(Blue-bead Lily), Wild Lily-of-the-Valley, Canada Anemone, Yellow Pond Lilies and Bunchberries.

One would think that after more than 25 years we would have figured everything out - not so - we are puzzling about the white puffs of cotton in the air. For sure they are not dandelions and yes they are Quaking Aspen - but not all have cotton even though they are in the Cottonwood family & yes it comes from Willows - but a lot of their fluff just falls to the ground in a lump. Maybe if we brought binoculars the solution would be apparent.
