Today we went to the Magnetic Rock Trail (Near the BWCA's Canoe Entry Point 57). We had to wait in the car quite a while until it stopped raining. Many years ago I had seen Slender Ladies-tresses on the trail so I was keeping my eye open for them. Didn't see any. The three favorite flowers on the trip were: the many clumps of Harebells - even one white clump, the bright orange Wood Lilies, and the many Blueberries that will be ripe soon  (Webmasters Note:  The area is known for its blueberry picking, along with the nearby Granite River's Blueberry Portage). It rained off an on. One of the three of had a rain suit that she kept putting on and taking off, the other two just got wet but not cold.

There has been a burn there and there were many charred standing dead trees. This was ugly but it opened up the view and we could see a long ways. It was a wonderful trip and we were glad we went.

For those on the Gunflint Trail, soon there is a very large field of Blue Flag Iris across the trail and a wee bit south of the Hungry Jack Road.  Then if you turn onto the Hungry Jack Road very soon on the right-hand side of the road are a large batch of Wild Calla Lilies and more Iris farther on.    Wonderful Lupine near Windigo.
