Man made wildflowers?  Fireworks, Independence Day 2001

Wildflowers July 4, 2001

Found blooming in Cook County by Lorraine Anderson - lorraine@bwca.cc (Be sure to check out the past reports linked at the right as well!)

Where we went:  On Sunday we went on the South Trail (about the middle of the Gunflint)  I had wanted to find that trail for several years but was disappointed.  The trail was very narrow and the day we went it was very buggy.  Also the first 1/2  hour in on the trail was not very pretty.  But Wednesday was different.  The bugs were bad until we remembered to put on bug dope and then they were no problem.  We took W #14 north until Trout Lake rd (140) then went off on Forest Service roads 308 & 306 exploring them by car and foot.  We went down to the small lake north of Trout, down to Scabbard Lake and around the shore of Mink Lake.  We ate lunch in Kimball Campground.
