Free NOAA Weather Radios

APRweather.com and BoundaryWatersCanoeArea.com partner with Cyberrebate to provide free National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather radios.

Radios are available for free with rebate from (click on the photo below).  The EWR850 Weather Radio automatically gets your attention for emergency warning broadcasts with an audible siren and flashing red light. You can monitor the Emergency Alert System and local weather broadcasts 24 hours a day.

APRweather.com and BoundaryWatersCanoeArea.com (BWCA.cc) partnered earlier to install a weather station and a lightning detection system for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Northern Minnesota.   NOAA transmitters are being planned by area officials for installation near Gunflint and Bogus Lakes in Cook County, Minnesota and should be operational this fall.  Funding for these transmitters comes from the county and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
