* Flood Warning for...
  Aitkin County in east central Minnesota...

* at 1205 am CDT...thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall continued 
across the warned area. This is a very dangerous situation with 
flooding occurring and more flooding will occur. Doppler radar 
estimates 2 to 8 inches of rain have fallen over the warned area. 
Another 1 to 3 inches of rain will occur in the warned area over the 
next 2 to 3 hours.
* Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flooding to occur.

The Floodwood Police Department has advised no travel as many streets
and roads are flooded at this time. Area roadways have become 
overwhelmed with the high rain rates and drainage ditches are full 
or over filled. Additional flooding is expected as overland flow 
moves through creeks and streams towards larger rivers.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Do
not enter the water. Turn around and move up to higher ground to
escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
To report flooding...have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office in Duluth

* at 1130 PM CDT...National Weather Service radar along with surface
  observations reported precipitation totals ranging from 1 inch near
  Grand Marais to nearly 6 inches near Two Harbors. Additional
  rain of 1 to 2 inches will fall into areas along the North Shore
  during the overnight hours.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...Duluth...
  Grand Marais...Alger...Arnold...Beaver Bay...Castle Danger...

Several reports of water over Highway 61 along the North Shore have
come into the National Weather Service from Larsmont to Silver Bay.
