Wildfire Situation Update
MN Dept of Natural Resources, 7/8/02
Fires were reported by the Brainerd and Lewiston/Preston/Caledonia
areas. Overnight precip amounts vary from no precip received in southern
MN to 7.20 inches at Brainerd. The Tuesday Fire received .2 inch
of rain. The fire is 100 percent contained and they continue to work on
mop-up 200 feet inside the line. Limited demob of resources has begun.
At this time, about 250 Minnesotans are assisting with western fires.
MFC Crews 2IA and 3IA will be arriving home this evening. MIFC dispatch
needs updated availability lists as updates occur. Overhead Team C is on
normal rotation this week. They have been called off the alert status.
AVAILABLE RESOURCES: One helicopter is assigned to the Tuesday Fire.
Helicopters are available at Grand Rapids and Grand Marais. The USFS has
3 Beaver float planes available at Ely. Air attack 3, the Cessna 206 is
available at Grand Rapids. Hibbing has 3 CL215 water bombers and air
attack 6 available. DETECTION: No detection is planned today. WEATHER:

FORECAST: There is a chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday. Highs
