Report on the Tuesday Fire
BoundaryWatersCanoeArea.com, 7/5/02
Firefighters are feeling positive about their efforts in the Tuesday
Fire, which began July 2. As of 5:00 PM Friday, crews were holding
the perimeter at an estimated 50% containment.
At the scene of the 430 acre fire, Ron Sanow explained that they had
not received the rain they had hoped for. They only had a light
dusting accumulating to less than 1/100th of an inch. He said the
overall humidity from the day has helped.
With additional fire crews having arrived, and Jesse Ventura's
activation of the National Guard troops, the crew is now at 175.
Additional crews are scheduled to arrive.
No structures have been lost in the fire. The crews plan to continue
with mop up efforts and holding the perimeter. Lightening is
believed to be the cause of the fire.
