Report on the Tuesday Fire

The Grand Marais area is working on the "Tuesday Fire". The fire was discovered July 2 through aerial detection, is presently 400 acres in size and is 20 percent contained at this time. There are 3 CL215 water bombers, 1 helicopter, 5 dozers, 7 engines, 9 all terrain water delivery vehicles, and about 135 persons assigned to this fire. The National Guard has been called to assist with this fire. MIFC dispatch needs updated availability lists as changes occur. In addition to local fires, about 300 Minnesotans are assigned to out of state assignments, assisting with western fires. 

AVAILABLE RESOURCES: Grand Marais has 1 helicopter available. The USFS has 3 Beaver float planes available at Ely. Hibbing has 3 CL215 water bombers and 2 air attack planes available. 

DETECTION: No detection is planned today. 

WEATHER: WIMS Forecasts: http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/forestry/fire Today will be mostly sunny with light winds to 12 mph. Minimum RH will be in the mid 20's. Friday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of precip. Highs will be n the 80s with S/SE winds to 20 mph. 

EXTENDED FORECAST: Saturday trough Wednesday will be partly cloudy with chances of scattered showers.
