INVENTORY OF WILDLANDS NEEDS
VOLUNTEERS
Friends
of the Boundary Waters Wilderness 6/26/02
This
is a chance to get out into the
Superior
National Forest
, help document the
natural features of a particular area, and be part of a campaign to add
wilderness protection to more lands in the Quetico-Superior
Ecosystem. The Friends
needs volunteers to identify ecological conditions, unique natural
features, and the condition of roads and other developments in roadless
areas.
By
conducting field observations and taking photographs, volunteers will
help the Friends build a “case for support” for protective status of
additional public lands. We
provide training, materials such as maps, cameras, and observation logs,
and an opportunity to really get to know a unique area.
You contribute your time and energy, meet other wilderness
advocates, and forge a deeper connection with the natural world.
