Comments:  Reconditioned the skating lane on the Britton Peak loops. The snow dropping out of the trees is almost done, so the skating lane should stay in good shape.

Summit View, Wood Duck, Piece of Cake, Bridge Run, and Britton to Oberg groomed 2/1/10.

***85" of snow Winter 2006!, 76" for Winter 2008!, over 140" in Winter 2009!, 30" so far this Season***

Comments:  Wet snowfall over the weekend, & more expected on 1/25. Groomers will assess the trails on 1/26 & 1/27 & begin grooming when colder temperatures solidify the snow. Watch this space for updates.

Comments:  Cross country ski trails on Ullr Mountain Loop were groomed 1/14, but are rough.   Downhill is open with 78 runs and 24-48" base.

Lutsen Mountains cross country ski pass is required, and can be purchased at the ticket office.  The pass includes lift access to the cross country trailheads.  Lutsen Mountains has 4k of trails around Ullr Mountain.  Report Courtesy of the Lutsen-Tofte Tourism Association and Lutsen Mountains.

Comments: 

The entire trail is being groomed this week. The snow and ice storm that occurred last weekend along the shore has made the trail narrow in spots due to frozen trees, branches and brush hanging over the trail. The trail will be groomed again on Friday & Saturday night.

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon starts in Duluth at 1:00pm on Sunday, Jan. 31st and runs the entire trail until Thursday, February 4th. The trail remains open to snowmobiling however extreme caution is needed while riding and trail conditions will vary.

Comments:  Park trails have been packed with a roller & inland trails are tracked. Park trails inland are in good condition, trails lakeside are poor. DeerYard & Pioneer loops groomed by Cascade Lodge are reported in good to excellent condition. Lutsen Mt. alpine ski area is open. Come on up to view the ice covered waterfalls and see all the wildlife in the park!

Comments:  Expect icy conditions on trails around the lake and river gorge. Ice cleats for your boots are a very good idea. Ski trails are not groomed at this park but are open to those who wish to use them and provide some excellent snowshoeing opportunities. The tubular type with the claw grips will work the best.

Book your lodging today!  AmericInn offers free breakfast, indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool, and all rooms have fridges and microwaves.  AmericInn is located in Tofte, near the Temperance trails, and is only 10 minutes from Lutsen!
