Minnesota's North Shore
has nearly 200K of groomed cross country trails winding through the
woods. Some consider these trails among the best in the country.
The North Shore area includes the Sugarbush Trail Association, Lutsen
Mountains Nordic Center, Cascade River State Park, Temperance River
State Park, and the Norpine Trail Association. Come ski the varied
terrain, enjoy the abundant snow, and view the spectacular scenery!

was groomed 3/22/13 for classic.

On April 1-2 we groomed the trail from Lain Road to the Caribou
parking lot for the last time this season. Bare spots are
occurring in corners and hills, and the rocks are showing. If
you do go riding, it is recommended that you start from the Finland
parking lot and head north. Ice is showing up in more areas
along the trail. Please use caution, especially where the
trail runs on the 600 Road south of the Sawbill Trail, Cook County 2
to the Blind Temperance River. Logging is occurring along the
trail approximately ten miles north of the Alger Parking Lot.
There isn't any trail base fro 3/8 of a mile in that area.

- Use caution, this is a multiple use trail with mainly snowmobile traffic.
This trail is not groomed for cross country. It is
specifically groomed for snowmobile.

Bally Creek's 25km of trails are located about 6 miles southwest of
Grand Marais. Take Co Rd 7 west to Co Rd 48, then follow Co Rd 48 to
Bally Creek Road (Forest Service Road 158).

Conditions are fair to poor across
the park. We are losing snow rapidly with the warm temps and the
snow we do have is icy.
Ski trails are not groomed at this
park but we do have good backcountry skiing and snowshoeing
opportunities for the winter adventurer.
