Comments: Trail heads
near lake will have little to no snow. May need to walk up to 150
yards before getting to snow. After that point, skiing is poor to
fair and good to excellent out at Deeryard. Best skiing is from the
DYL trail head but the skiing near the lake is quite manageable
during the afternoon. Expect early spring conditions, icing in the
mornings.

Comments: The
trail from Duluth to the Gunflint Trail has been groomed this week
and is scheduled to be groomed again on Friday & Saturday night. As
of yesterday, (3/3/10) the trail was in good condition, these
conditions will vary due to use and weather conditions. Trailering
to one the parking lots along the trail is recommended due to low
snow cover near Lake Superior. We have experienced warmer
temperatures this week & the forecast is calling for warm
temperatures through the weekend. Scattered bare spots are
occurring. Please use caution while riding & expect spring riding
conditions. Heavy use is expected.
Send your trail report to
trailconditions@bwca.cc
- Use caution, this is a multiple use trail with snowmobile traffic.

condition, trails lakeside are good for hiking. DeerYard is very
good & Pioneer loops are fair & groomed by Cascade Lodge. Lutsen Mt.

Comments: Expect icy
conditions for hiking on trails around the lake and river gorge. Ice
cleats for your boots are a very good idea. Ski trails are not
groomed at this park but are open to those who wish to use them and
provide some excellent snowshoeing and back country skiing. Near the
lakeshore you won't find much snow but it increases as you head
inland.
