Comments: Still waiting
for a little more snow before the conditions are right for
backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. This unusual winter has made for
great hiking conditions into the winter months, but with some icy
spots on the trails some sort of ice walkers for your shoes are
recommended. Crosby-Manitou is a great park to visit in the winter
for those who are looking for adventure and prepared for a back
country experience. Trails are not groomed but make for excellent
snowshoeing and challenging back country skiing once we get more
snow. Snowshoe rentals are available at nearby Tettegouche State
Park.
Check North Shore State Trail - Finland to Grand Marais for
snowmobile trail conditions at and near George H Crosby-Manitou.

Ski trails are never groomed at
Crosby-Manitou. The park does have some great snowshoeing
opportunities. View the Cascades on the Manitou
River. Park is eight miles Northeast of Finland Minnesota on Lake
County Road 7 (the Cramer Road) Winter lot near park entrance is
available and plowed. 21 backpack campsites are available all
winter. Self register at entrance kiosk.
Minnesota Ski
Pass Required. DIRECTIONS: From the village
of Finland, go 7 miles north on Lake County Road 7.

Comments:
We groomed the trail from the Caribou Parking Lot north to the Cook
County trail junction just south of Grand Marais this week. There's
between a 3 & 6" base on this section of trail. Warm temperatures
into the 30's have prevented us to groom south of the Caribou. The
trail south of the Caribou parking lot was packed and groomed last
week. If you do go riding, please use caution. Warm temperatures are
in the forecast. Send your trail report to
trailconditions@bwca.cc
- Use caution, this is a multiple use trail with snowmobile traffic.
This trail is not groomed for cross country. It is
specifically groomed for snowmobile.
