Ken grew up in New Town,
North Dakota and has had an affection for nature and the outdoors since
he was young.
He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Sakakawea, and loved hiking and
exploring the surrounding countryside.
Ken attended college at UND in Grand Forks and while living there was
introduced to the neighboring northwoods and lakes of northern
Minnesota.
After earning an electrical engineering degree in 1981, he moved to the
Twin Cities in Minnesota.
Over the next 10 years he became familiar with the Superior-Quetico
wilderness of Minnesota and Ontario, traveling on over 20 canoe trips to
the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico Provincial Park.
Gradually, he became more interested in photographing the natural
scenery of that area and learned how to use his 35mm camera to capture
more artistic images.
In 1997 he formed Arrowhead Photography, his business
dedicated to photography of
the wild and rugged Arrowhead region of Minnesota.
